Egan Bloom & Associates expands services in Federal Affairs and Community and Economic Development

“Combining decades of hands-on
experience and leadership in both
the public and private sectors –
John Egan and Jim Bloom have
acquired stellar reputations for
trust and dependability among
Pennsylvania’s legislative leaders –
as well as state and local decision-
makers in both Harrisburg and
Philadelphia.”

Edward G. Rendell, Governor
Commonwealth of Pennsylvania

Egan Bloom & Associates, a public affairs and management consulting firm that specializes in Philadelphia and Harrisburg government affairs services for the southeast Pennsylvania region, announces an expansion of its client representation in Washington legislative and regulatory matters.  This now creates an opportunity for clients to access funding at the municipal, state, and federal level through its partnership with Triad Associates, a community and economic development firm with over thirty years of experience in the Pennsylvania and New Jersey Region.

The federal affairs expansion will be headed by the addition of Otto V. Banks, former Deputy Assistant Secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD), and Lawrence G. Flick, a federal affairs consultant in Washington, DC, to the Egan Bloom consulting team.

“We welcome Otto and Larry as the perfect fit for our firm. We recognize a growing need for many of our clients to consider Washington to advance their interests with our Congressional Delegation and the Federal Government. Between Otto and Larry there is a combined thirty-plus years of experience in Washington politics and Congressional activities,” Egan stated. Both men have close ties to Pennsylvania; Larry is a native of southeast Pennsylvania and grew up in Montgomery County, while Otto is from Dauphin County.

Otto Banks brings an extensive background in politics, grass roots efforts, development, and finance to Egan Bloom & Associates.  During Otto’s time as Deputy Assistant Secretary and Senior Policy Advisor at HUD, he implemented and managed approximately $14 billion in housing and urban development grants and tax credits across various areas of the nation.  He recommended federal legislation to strengthen housing and urban development.  Prior to his work in Washington, D.C., Otto served as a City of Harrisburg City Councilperson and developed deep connections in the Harrisburg Political Scene.

Larry Flick worked eight years in the U.S. House of Representatives and two and one-half years in the Executive Office of the President for President George H.W. Bush.  He also served as the Director of Federal and State Government Affairs for the 2000 Republican National Convention in Philadelphia.  Other than his role at the Convention, he has spent the last 15 years serving clients including corporations, not-for-profit institutions, trade associations, local governments, and other entities that have issues of interest before the legislative or executive branches of the federal government.  Mr. Flick’s client work includes advancing and protecting clients’ interests on legislative and executive branch actions involving matters relating to energy, healthcare, the Food and Drug Administration, the Department of Defense, Housing and Urban Development, the Department of Transportation, as well as securing 2010 Congressional appropriations.

Egan Bloom & Associates is pleased to have created a strong partnership with Triad Associates.  This is in full recognition of how critical funding strategies are to its clients.  By maximizing their ability to obtain those funding commitments, Egan Bloom & Associates can offer their clients a more expansive set of services and grant them greater access to opportunities at the municipal, state, and federal level.
